Nothing undermines courage more than hoping in the wrong thing. 1 Peter says, “see to it that your faith is in God.” When faith is in our ability, it results in pride for some and fear of failure for others. When faith is in the immutable character of God, it produces courage that overcomes fear. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Heb. ).
